Nebulae

This collection shows a style of abstract digital art I regularly create for fun. These pieces are done fully digitally inside of Photoshop, usually made by heavily modifying pictures I've taken or other art pieces I've made. I start by adding elements like brush strokes and simple vector shapes to enhance contrast, I then use Photoshop's many distortion options such as solarization to move pixels around in unexpected ways. Once I'm satisfied with the changes, I begin to use Photoshop's liquify tool to push the colors around and create these organic and colorful paintings, tweaking the settings as I go. After the process of liquifying the image is done, I often recolor the image and add texture using a variety of different methods, which usually produces a nice balance of vibrant color with pleasing texture. I'm always surprised by the output, the pieces go through dozens of transformations throughout the process and no two pieces are ever the same. I chose the name due to being reminded of the wispy and flowing appearance many nebulae exhibit, much like these works.

I started creating art in this style to keep as wallpapers for my different devices, they're usually exported in very large pixel sizes which enables them to be cropped in different places, sizes and orientations. I fully intend to use most of these pieces in upcoming poster designs.
